Frank and Josephine Redmond pitched their first homestead tent near the area that would later take on their name in 1905. The City of Redmond, Oregon, was incorporated on July 6, 1910 and is located on the eastern side of Oregon's Cascade Mountain Range just north of Bend Oregon.
The City of Redmond is the operator of the region's only commercial airline service airport, Roberts Field. It is the fourth largest commercial service airport in Oregon serving all of Central Oregon. Commercial service is provided by Horizon Air (part of the Alaska Air Group); United Express and Delta Connection (provided by SkyWest Airlines); and Allegiant Air. These carriers offer approximately 46 arriving and departing flights daily to and from Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix Mesa, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, and Seattle.
Redmonds's climate is typical of the high desert with cool nights and sunny days. A typical Redmond summer is marked with daily high temperatures between 80 °F and 100 °F and nightly lows around 40 °F to 60 °F. In the winter season, Redmond will likely see daytime high temperatures between 35 °F and 50 °F and nightly lows anywhere from 0 °F to 30 °F.
